We are nearing March, that means soon we will be having our new Samsung Flagships. This year Samsung has introduced not two devices, but five smartphones. The Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy S10 5G will be available only in the second quarter of the year. Now you can pre-order Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10e devices and it will be shipped next month. If you are wondering whether to pre-order one or to be the first to buy one of this device next month, this initial impression might help you which one to choose.
What’s New?
This year Samsung devices set a new benchmark for their product in lots of factors. But the three major improvements/features are
- Punch Hole Display
- New in-display ULTRASONIC fingerprint sensors
- Cameras
The galaxy s10 and s10 plus has almost the same features, build quality, and specifications. In the higher end model of S10 plus you get 12GB RAM and 1TB internal storage, this is the feature you won’t get in the regular S10 version. The complete S10, S10 Plus, and S10e spec sheet is given below, check it to know more about the device you like.
Infinity O Display
Samsung devices are known for their beautiful screens, this year also the display has become even better with the HDR10+ certification. Meaning, you can see the videos more clearly and high-end games will look great. On the 93% screen to body ratio device, media consumption will be soooo good and immersive.
New Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensors
Samsung S10 is the first device to have the ULTRASONIC fingerprint sensor. The reason why am highlighting Ultrasonic is it is not the one you have seen in the OnePlus and other devices in the previous devices. The in-display finger print sensor which we have seen before are optical fingerprint sensors which require light to read your fingerprint. The Ultrasonic fingerprints get your fingerprint without even waking up your phone and it is faster. In S10e you don’t get the in-display fingerprint sensor, instead, the power button is treated as a fingerprint reader.
Heads up: If you are using tempered glass to protect your phone, then you might have some trouble with the Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. Samsung said it will work with the third party manufacturers to give you a better screen protector without hindering the fingerprint sensor performance. So technically, for the S10 and S10 Plus, you have to buy a special screen protector. |
Cameras
The Galaxy S10 and S10Plus has three rear camera systems and the S10e has a dual camera system. As we have seen in the S10 rumors roundup, the main camera is a 12mp camera with variable aperture, just like in the S9 smartphone. The secondary camera is a telephoto camera and the third one is a ultrawide camera. In the S10 and S10 Plus, you get dual optical image stabilization, 2X zoom, and HDR10+ video recording.
On the front, you get a single camera system in the S10 and a dual camera system in the S10 plus, just like in the render designs we have seen before. The secondary camera is a depth sensor; if you are expecting a wide-angle camera for a better selfie just like in the Pixel 3 device, am sorry. But, you get the 4K video recording option using the front camera, which will be a useful feature for vloggers.
On the S10e, it is a different story. You get a dual camera on the back; the main camera is a 12MP lens with variable aperture and the second is a ultra wide-angle camera. New camera features in the S10 models are Scene optimizers and Shot suggestions.
Gimmicky Features
The above-mentioned features are something which you will use almost regularly. As usual, Samsung has given you a pack of gimmicky features which you rarely use. Here are some interesting gimmicky features.
The S10 devices cannot only charge wirelessly but now they can also charge other devices wirelessly. If you are buying Galaxy Buds, then you can charge your wireless headphones with your S10 device itself.
Now the S10 devices have WiFi 6. Here are quick benefits of WiFi6,
- WiFi6 devices will have faster connectivity, which is obivious
- You can connect multiple devices to the same network without hindering the speed
- Better safety and
- Uses less energy
WiFi 6 is just getting started and will take some time to reach all devices. When it gets there your Samsung S10 will be ready to use it efficiently. Until then you can say that your device has WiFi6. Still, there is no update or idea about the S10 5G version, will share with you when I know it, subscribe to stay updated. See ya!
